Record Description | One of the largest and finest alders in Arkengarthdale or anywhere for that matter. Alders grow naturally at spring rises and many springs and alders are protected within walled enclosures, as this tree,from trampling by stock.
The wall abuts the base of this tree and it is clear that this Alder tree was already very old when first enclosed by a very old stone walled enclosure. |
